AT&T goes down across the US with users reporting issues with phone service

AT&T has gone down in the US, leaving Americans without phone or internet service.

Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows problems with the cellular giant’s network started around 1pm ET.

Users have reported issues with mobile phone and internet and landline internet.

AT&T has more than 115 million users in the US, but the number of people impacted during Wednesday’s outage is unknown.

Reports to Downdetector shows users in major cities have been hit the hardest, including those in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Houston and Chicago.

Approximately 68 percent of customers cited problems with Mobile Phone, 17 percent for Mobile Internet and 15 percent of reported problems show Landline Internet.

Users have shared their frustrations on X, with one woman pleading with AT&T to restore service.

‘I don’t have time for your shenanigans. My 4 month old has an appointment an hour away I NEED MY PHONE,’ she posted.

AT&T responded to her post, saying: ‘This is not the experience we want you to have. We’re right here to look into this for you, and get this taken care.’

Other users reported their smartphone is stuck on SOS, which limits communications to only emergency calls.

Customers have reportedly checked their local AT&T coverage, finding not outages in their area – yet still do not have service.

One X user shared that they and two other people in Salt Lake City are on the same AT&T plan, but are unable to call each other or anyone else who has AT&T as their cellular provider.

‘@ATT SLC, UT here. 3 of us on plan can’t call anyone who is with ATT, but can call others. What’s going on? Your site says there are no issues but @downdetector begs to differ,’ the post reads.

A customer in Portland, Oregon claimed their smartphone was stuck on SOS and a search of their zip code in AT&T’s service page showed ‘All clear! No outages to report.’
