Attempted murderer’s chilling Triple Zero call is revealed as he’s jailed for four years

‘My wife – I’ve just stabbed her dead’: Attempted murderer’s chilling Triple Zero call is revealed as his victim makes brave statement and he’s jailed for as little as four years

  • George Freeman stabbed his wife multiple times in 2017 when she tried to leave
  • Carron Wickens said he only stopped stabbing her when she said she loved him
  • Freeman was sentenced to nearly 10 years but could be out in four years

The chilling Triple Zero call made just moments after an abusive husband attempted to stab his wife to death has been revealed.

George Alexander Freeman, 61, was convicted of attempted murder at the Supreme Court in Adelaide on Thursday after he attacked his former wife, Carron Wickens, in December 2017 when she told him she was leaving him.

Freeman was jailed for nine years and 10 months, but could be released in as little as four years with time already served.

Justice Sam Doyle said he granted a lesser sentence because of Freeman’s Parkinson’s disease and various personal circumstances, according to 9 News.

The horrific attack was motivated by Freeman’s ‘festering anger’ towards his failed relationship.

In a interview filmed by police after Ms Wickens was rushed to hospital, the heart broken woman recounted the attack.

‘Eventually he stopped when I said I loved him and why is he doing this,’ Ms Wickens said.

‘I don’t know how many times he stabbed me in the process.’

Moments after the stabbing Freeman called his father in law to tell him his daughter was dead – before he made a chilling Triple Zero call.

‘Tell me exactly what’s happened,’ the phone operator asked.

‘My wife – I’ve just stabbed her dead,’ Freeman said.

‘Sorry?’ the phone operator asked.

‘I’ve just stabbed my wife to death,’ Freeman said.

Just days before the attack, Freeman was seen on CCTV purchasing a 30cm knife from a Reject Shop.

After hearing her former husband could be released in only a few years Ms Wickens encouraged other abuse victims to flee their partners.

‘To those men and women who are in abusive relationships, I encourage you to value your worth, recognise the signs of abuse, seek help and plan your escape silently,’ Ms Wickens said.
