Police confirmed weeks later that the body was that of Gary – the founder of the Atlanta office for the regional law firm Burr & Forman.

His remains were so badly burned that it took investigators months to determine that Gary had been shot dead.

Police said at the time that it was likely Gary had been killed by someone that he knew.

They have been investigating his murder ever since.

It is not clear if Farris was considered a suspect right from the beginning.

Gary’s wife was taken into custody in Tennessee on Tuesday night where she had been staying with a friend.

Detectives believe she shot her husband inside their home before trying to dispose of his body.

They said she burned his remains to get rid of any evidence.

Police have not revealed an official motive but did say the couple had marital issues.

Farris is being held without bond in Manchester, Tennessee, and is expected to be extradited to Georgia.
