An Audi driver accused of side-swiping and injuring a motorcyclist in an alleged road rage attack on one of Sydney’s busies roads has been charged and had his licence suspended.

The development emerged on Wednesday after terrifying footage of Saturday’s crash on the Hume Highway near the Campbelltown Road overpass near Casula went viral.

Terrifying dash cam of the alleged incident shows a motorbike and a silver Audi crossing back and forth between lanes moments before the collision.

The Audi is shown tailing behind in the right-side lane before it speeds up and collides with the motorbike, sending the rider hurtling across four lanes of traffic before crashing into a barrier.

Police allege that the Audi hatchback then drove off.

The footage shows several passing motorists pulling over and rushing to the aid of the motorcyclist badly lying injured on the road.

The motorcyclist, 50, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

While police were at the crash scene, the driver of the Audi returned and spoke to officers. 

The 55-year-old man returned a negative breath test.

Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police have charged the 55-year-old man with driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle.

He will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on November 21.

The man’s licence was also suspended.
