A Sunshine Coast couple who gave their life savings to their daughter are now the owners of three lavish properties across the country worth more than $3.4 million.
Joe and Marie Watson, aged in their 60s, won the highly sought-after portfolio through the RSL’s Art Union Prize Home Lottery on November 15.
But just weeks before, the battlers had been struggling and ‘weren’t in a very good position’ financially, according to A Current Affair.

‘We had given our savings to our daughter to put a deposit on a house, because it’s so hard for young people to do it on their own today,’ Mrs Watson said.
Having given away $50,000 of their nest egg, the pair said they had planned to bunk at her new home before they received the life-changing call.
‘My legs went to jelly and I called out, “Joe, we’ve won the lottery”,’ Mrs Watson said.
The three abodes include a stunning two-bedroom spot in Sydney’s Potts Point, a three-bedroom beach getaway in Noosa, as well as a one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Melbourne.

Among the properties they won was a three-bedroom beach getaway in Noosa, which boasts a stunning waterfall at the exterior entrance
The overjoyed couple ‘didn’t even own a home’ prior to the win and had lived in different states over the past 12 years.
Of the three new properties, the couple declared Noosa’s their favourite and said they had decided to set up there to be close to their children.
But despite their luck, both claimed they had chosen to do their bit to contribute to the RSL’s causes.
Mrs Watson told the RSL Art Union that the cause had been close to their hearts as their parents and grandparents had served in the war.
A stunning two-bedroom spot in Sydney’s Potts Point was also won by the pair, with the apartment overlooking the city and harbour
