Aussie dad receives ultimate Christmas gift after winning $1million lottery: ‘I’m crying’

A father was shocked to discover he had become a millionaire just days out from Christmas after nabbing one of two winning lottery tickets.

The man, who lives in Casino in the Northern Rivers in NSW, picked the winning numbers in the Weekly Windfall draw last Friday.

The father was left in tears after he received a call from The Lott on Sunday informing him about his $1million prize money.

‘Thank you, lord. This is the biggest blessing. I’m crying,’ he said.

‘I can’t believe it. I checked my ticket yesterday and haven’t stopped thinking maybe it’s just a dream.’

The hardworking dad said he hopes it’s a sign of more good things to come for himself and his children.

‘This is the best Christmas present ever… in my entire life!’ he said.

‘I work every day. I’ll be working over Christmas too. It’s all for my family.

The winning numbers from the Weekly Windfall draw 4484 were 20, 45, 7, 15, 14 and 31. The supplementary numbers were 42 and 4.

The man bought the winning ticket from his local newsagency Plaza News.

Owner Bill Rose said he was thrilled to have sold a winning ticket.

‘It’s so exciting. I’ve been telling customers all year that I am going to sell a winning ticket, and I did it!’ he said.

‘Our lovely customers will be over the moon. We’ll be spreading the good news to them all week.’

Mr Rose revealed the last time the small business sold a division one winning entry was in October 2018.

The second division one winning ticket for Friday night’s draw was entered by a resident in Western Australia.

There have been 225 division one winning entries so far in the current financial year including 60 winning entries from residents in NSW.

The Weekly Windfall helped 99 people across Australia become millionaires in the previous financial year, which included 109 division one winning entries.

The division one winners during this period took out a combined $108million dollars  in prize money.
