Self-described ‘gay, fat dancer’ Ben Trigger wowed the judges on America’s Got Talent last week with his extraordinary burlesque performance.
The Australian’s unconventional striptease saw him trigger the gold buzzer, sending shows of confetti down behind his near-naked body – and jettisoning him into the next round.
And the Brisbane-based travel agent appeared on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program on Monday to reveal what it was like performing in front of millions of people on the AGT audition episode.

For Ben, simply getting the chance to perform was a triumph in itself.
‘When I was 18 I had a really bad knee dislocation so it forced me to stop dancing,’ Ben said.
‘And this was like, you know what, I’m going to try and do this and show the world that I can – and that everyone can dance.’

Ben also joked that he was going to tour as a double act with fellow Australian performer Hans The German, AKA Matt Gilbertson.
On AGT last Tuesday, Ben stripped down to a see-through body suit with black underwear and black tassels in his nipples.
AGT judges including Simon Cowell looked on in shock and awe as Ben strutted the stage, jiggling and wiggling like an accomplished burlesque dancer to the song ‘Boogie Wonderland’ by Earth, Wind & Fire.
‘You know what I feel like today? I feel like I’ve eaten the craziest milk shake in the world, with everything mixed up with you at the top. But you know what? You are hilarious. You’re so much fun,’ judge Simon Cowell (far right) said
Ben finished his act by leaping onto the judge’s panel and triggering the gold buzzer, which sent a shower of gold confetti down onto the stage.
‘You know what I feel like today? I feel like I’ve eaten the craziest milk shake in the world, with everything mixed up with you at the top. But you know what? You are hilarious. You’re so much fun,’ Cowell said.
Ben’s brave and energetic performance won him the endorsement of Cowell, and Ben was sent through to the next round in Season 14 of the hit US talent show.
