Aussie Fashion Critical delivers VERY harsh Golden Globes best and worst dressed review

The biggest stars in Hollywood descended upon the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening dressed in their very best to celebrate the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards.

Fashion Critical, an anonymous satirical red carpet commentator from Australia, shared their brutal analysis of the best and worst celebrity outfits post-event in a 38-image gallery to their popular Facebook page.

Australia’s very own movie star darling Margot Robbie kicked off proceedings looking ‘pretty in pink’ wearing Chanel but it didn’t ‘wow’ the fashion commentator as much as she had hoped.

‘I don’t care for this and the shredded ribbons and bits of lace at the bottom. I quite like the top though. GEEZ I’d love to add some volume to the hair but her hair colour is CHEFS KISS,’ they said.

The Good Nurse’s Jessica Chastain looked ‘stunning’ in her sparkly ensemble but photos ‘make it look washed out’ according to the experts, who were enamoured by the floor length geometric display on TV.

Just as the red carpet was starting to look a little too ordinary supermodel Heidi Klum arrived to spice things up in what was arguably the ‘worst dressed option’ on the night.

‘Just as I started to break out in hives worrying that everyone at the Globes was looking lovely, Heidi turns up in this!!!’ Fashion Critical wrote.

‘LOOK at the flesh coloured ice skating fabric! I can’t – it’s my worst. And a sash of fraggles garishly worn without a care in the world for their merciless slaughter. Heidi always brings me something to larf about. GOD BLESS HER.’

Michelle Williams evoked a 'part jellyfish, part coral and part old Hollywood glamour' in her 'demure' and 'frilly gown'

But it did highlight her gorgeous blonde hair, which was scraped back for the night

Better Call Saul actress Rhea Seehorn was considered the ‘best on ground’ by a number of commentators and Fashion Critical was no different, giving her black sequin gown with protruding shoulder pads a 12/10.

Eddie Murphy was called out for ‘ageing backwards’ and bringing his Australian fiancé Paige Butcher ‘who looks like Heidi Klum should have looked on the carpet’ in a beautiful black lace gown.

Sadly Where The Crawdads Sing star Daisy Edgar-Jones didn’t earn any points for her take on what a ‘bar wench might wear in a saloon’ and failed abysmally for seemingly not doing her nails for the night of nights.

Pregnant Kaley Cuoco was given a thumbs up for her Grecian frock in a gorgeous pale lilac shade, with many commenting that she did exceptionally well to make it to the awards ceremony in the late stages of her pregnancy.

‘She has the face of someone entering the millionth month of pregnancy. Basically wants to be on the couch to watch this in whatever pants still fit (or no pants at all). No judgement,’ one reader wrote.

Comedy ‘queen’ Niecy Nash-Betts looked like she had tried to ‘change the doona cover at 6.00pm and had to be on the red carpet at 6.01pm’, but in the best way.

‘LOVE the dress on this lass – she looks smoking and that beading down the middle and leaving the side panels plain is a grand trick of the eye to make one look like an hourglass of deliciousness,’ Fashion Critical wrote.

‘I don’t even mind the doona cover elevating this look to total KWEEN status.’

Angela Bassett resembled ‘steel wool’ in her silver sequined gown while Jennifer Coolidge was ‘elegant’ in her all-over black sequin number.

Anya Taylor-Joy, although ethereal, didn’t capture the magic of her characters on the red carpet in a mustard yellow crop top and matching skirt – ‘this is very dull and something I would wear to a school formal’ – but Matt Bomer immediately rectified the situation in his velvet purple Ralph Lauren suit.

Disney alum and Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez was dubbed an ‘oh dear’ fashion moment at the event.

‘So boring. She looks unhappy too. At least no toe violation to be seen,’ Fashion Critical said.
