Aussie golf star Min Woo Lee has revealed how he struck up a friendship with pop superstar Justin Bieber – and that the unlikely pair caught up on FaceTime following his recent triumph at the Houston Open.

Woo Lee now finds himself the highest-ranked Australian male golfer in the world with a ranking of 22 – and the Perth native is brimming with confidence ahead of The Masters, which starts next week.

But before he turns his attention to Augusta, Lee recalled his recent interaction with Bieber, who he first met at a private golf tournament in Las Vegas.

‘We talked [on Monday] for a few minutes and I asked him, ‘Hey, is it alright to screenshot this Facetime’ and he said, ‘Yeah, sure’,’ Lee told News Corp.

‘And a few minutes later….he asked me if he could post it and was like, ‘Bro, do whatever you want, you’re Justin Bieber.

‘It’s very cool to have him as a friend and I get to talk to him. I mean, I’m fanboying.

‘I’m a boy from Perth, and I get to talk to one of the biggest artists in the world, so it’s pretty cool.’

Lee – a social media star himself with 760,000 Instagram followers – also stated he helped critique Bieber’s golf swing, which is ‘pretty good.’

He then joked he is willing to be Bieber’s golf coach.

Meanwhile, Lee has admitted he feared his career was becoming a case of all talk and no action before his victory in Houston.

The ‘boy from Perth’ was flooded with high-profile congratulations after holding off world No.1 Scottie Scheffler to break his Tour title duck.

Basketball superstar Steph Curry and Australia’s NBA stars Dyson Daniels and Josh Giddey sent messages of support in addition to Bieber after the Aussie’s one-shot victory.

‘There was a lot of ‘all talk and no show’ comments and I felt like I kind of got to that stage,’ he said.

‘I needed a kick in the butt, to get a win or good finish. So I’m glad that happened.’

Lee is being harsh on himself given his 2025 season to date has netted four top-20 Tour finishes in his first six events – before his Houston heroics.

He also knows a coveted green jacket would further silence his critics.

‘There’s a lot of people who win one tournament….and not many people remember them,’ Lee said.
