Australian makeup artist Ashlee Day has taken the internet by storm after creating a full face of makeup using just Kmart’s affordable Oxx Beauty range – and she’s raving about the results.
She purchased 23 makeup and skincare products including a 22-piece brush set, for $184.15, proving you don’t need to break the bank for high-quality beauty buys.
‘I think the prices are incredible, it’s affordable,’ she said.
The standout of the collection was the Blur Concealer Wand ($6), which she believed was a ‘dupe’ of Maybelline’s $23 Instant Age Rewind Concealer.
‘I’m obsessed with this concealer – it looks so good,’ she said, appearing surprised with the budget-friendly formula.
‘It’s lightweight and buildable.’
Another crowd pleaser was the Oxx Beauty’s Dewy Skin Serum ($6), which Ashlee described as giving her skin a ‘nice plumpness and dew.’
‘If this stuff is good, we’ve hit the jackpot,’ she said, adding: ‘It immediately sunk into my skin. Seems like a regular primer, I like it.’

Kmart’s $8 primer has also drawn comparisons to cult favourites like Milk’s Hydro Grip Primer ($66) and Elf’s Power Grip Primer ($24).
‘It has the same consistency as the Elf – one of my favourite primers in the world,’ Ashlee said. ‘It’s very tacky, but I don’t like the scent.’
Ashlee then used Oxx Beauty’s Illuminous Skin Tints, which retail for just $12.
‘I like how it’s blending out, and I like the brushes. It’s given my skin a really nice glow, but it’s enhancing my fine lines and pores a little bit,’ she admitted.
The Blur Concealer Wand ($6), however, was a runaway hit.
She also praised the $8 Contour Wand, likening it to Charlotte Tilbury’s iconic version, but with more product.

‘I love the colour, and it looks stunning. It’s very pigmented,’ she added.
Kmart’s 22-piece brush set ($30), which includes a handy brush bag, also left an impression.
‘Some hairs came off with application, but they’re very soft,’ Ashlee noted.
She even compared the $4 beauty blender to higher-end versions, calling it ‘perfect’ and ‘so soft.’
The Illuminate and Bake Powder was another favourite: ‘I’m obsessed with the pink powder,’ Ashlee revealed, while the bronzer ($6) also impressed her.
‘It’s a huge yes. But it is pigmented, so use a light hand,’ she advised.
Ashlee admitted she initially expected to be disappointed but was instead ‘overwhelmingly impressed by the budget makeup

The $10 Highlighter Palette delivered a major surprise.
