An Australian music star has revealed he quit his life in Los Angeles after surviving a drive-by shooting.
Jon George, on part of popular dance group Rüfüs Du Sol, almost got killed when he and his bandmates innocently got caught in the crossfire.
‘There [was] like six shots right in front of my face… and that was me just going ”all right, I think I’m done with this city” for a little bit,’ he recalled during an appearance on Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery on Wednesday.
Interviewed alongside fellow Rüfüs Du Sol members James Hunt and Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon re-lived the terrifying moment and explained how it changed his life.
He said the shooting was ‘definitely’ one of the reasons he and band mate James left Los Angeles and settled in Miami, while Tyrone de-camped to San Diego.
‘Holy sh**,’ host Ken ‘Smallzy’ Small said after hearing Jon’s dramatic tale.
‘Yeah [the drive-by] was enough for me to be like ”let’s change it up”,’ George replied.
Smallz added: ‘I don’t think people in Australia understand, just how crazy it is in certain parts of America…it’s like the Wild Wild West.’
