Aussie singer Budjerah reveals the surprising advice Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran gave him

Australian singer Budjerah has shared the advice given to him by pop icon Kylie Minogue as he continues his meteoric rise in the music industry.

The 21-year-old’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable, including collaborations with some of the biggest names in music.

‘I’ve gotten so much good advice,’ he told Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘I got this one from two great singers, Miss Kylie Minogue and Miss Tina Arena. When we were rehearsing together, they both said the exact same thing.

‘I was picking at the arrangement and questioning choices I was making about notes and how I was singing, and at different points they were both like ”You’re a singer, you’ve been singing forever, just do it. Once the mic turns on in front of people, you just have to get up and sing”.’

Budjerah was also given advice from singer Ed Sheeran after they toured around Australia together earlier this year.

‘He said that someone asked him what was the best song that he wrote in his opinion, and he said he hadn’t written it yet,’ he recalled.

The singer has spent the past few weeks headlining Split Milk Festival alongside the likes of Aitch, Peach PRC and Post Malone.

Earlier this year, he was crowned artist of the year at the National Indigenous Music Awards.

He was crowned the best breakthrough artist at the 2021 ARIA Awards and taking out the ARIA for best soul/R&B release for his album Conversations last year.

Budjerah features in a festive music video reimagining the holiday classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) in partnership with Starlight Children’s Foundation.
