Aussies are flocking to this hidden gem Byron Bay hotel in droves – and you’ll never guess the adorable reason why

Positioned across the road from one of Australia’s most famous beaches, few passersby would know the unassuming Beach Suites is one Byron Bay’s premier hotels that welcomes creatures great and small.

The coastal town, located on the far-north coast of NSW, has fast become a hub for the rich and powerful so it makes sense for holiday makers to kick back with their four legged friends while on vacation.

Recently, my miniature dachshund Licky and I had the pleasure of staying at the beachside sanctuary for two days of blissful relaxation in one of Australia’s most iconic destinations.

If you’re like Licky and appreciate the finer things in life, then you’ll love Beach Suites. There’s no shortage of ocean views, private pools, luxurious finishes and multi-million-dollar interiors here.

We stayed in one of the property’s four family-sized penthouses complete with a rooftop pool that boasted views of Byron’s famous lighthouse in the distance.

Almost directly across the road from the hotel is Belongil dog beach, where I enjoyed a morning coffee and Licky a splash in the ocean.

Between sun, sleep and sunset walks Licky and I lapped up the local hospitality scene.

Turns out Byron is full of dog-friendly restaurants and bars, we enjoyed evening cocktails at the newly opened Bonito at Hotel Marvell and lunch at the nearby Treehouse restaurant in Belongil Beach.

What sets Beach Suites apart is its dedication to all of its guests (both human and fur baby) offering a truly bespoke and inclusive experience during our stay. Here, no detail is overlooked.

General manager Helen Buckley and her team’s attention to detail was second to none, from plush dog beds and dog bowls, the guest expierience is as much about the pets as it is for their owners.

Nestled a stones throw from the famed Beach Hotel the revamped hotel offers a selection of meticulously designed penthouse apartments with rooftop pools to a simpler garden suite or studio.

Each room is equipped with meticulous locally-sourced amenities and modern appliances offering guests a premium stay with utmost attention to detail.

The interiors are chic and stylish and pay homage to Byron’s surfing culture.

The property is owned by businessman and entrepreneur Scott Didier, who counts Byron as one of his favorite places in the world.

‘At Beach Suites, we believe that pets are part of the family, and they deserve the same level of luxury and comfort as their owners,’ says Scott.

‘From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our dedicated pet concierge, who will ensure that your furry companion feels right at home.’

He bought Beach Suites in 2018 from Paul Hogan sidekick John Cornell and his wife Delvene Delaney and has spent the past six years regenerating and reinvigorating the property.

Including the downstairs architecturally-designed guest carpark with EV charging stations and a wall lit up with surfing videos.

With all the conveniences of home at your fingertips saying goodbye to this luxury mini-break was the only downside to our holiday.
