Aussies debate whether a ‘Scandi’ wooden Christmas tree is ‘festive’ enough from Target

Aussies debate whether ‘Scandi’ wooden Christmas tree is ‘festive’ enough – as it’s reduced by 50% at Target

  • A TikTok creator bought and set up Target’s Wooden Scandi Christmas Tree
  • Chelsea Williamson received mixed reviews about the ‘festive’ product
  • Some said it just wasn’t ‘Christmas-y’ enough for the holiday season
  • It’s currently on sale in stores for half its usual price at $45

Target’s minimalist wooden Christmas tree has sparked a debate online with thousands of Australians left unconvinced it’s ‘festive’ enough to display during the holiday season.

Plenty of stores are discounting their Christmas stock before the new year begins and Target’s Wooden Scandi Christmas Tree is no exception, with the five foot tall product down to just $45.

Chelsea Williamson, who lives in Sydney, purchased the tree this year and showcased how she decorated it in her living room using other wooden decorations from the discount retailer.

‘This is your sign to create your dream minimalist tree this Christmas,’ she captioned the video.

While some enjoyed the footage and could see themselves creating such a tree, otherwise were against the idea of anything that didn’t have green leaves.

‘It’s super cute, just not very festive,’ one woman replied in the comments.

‘I got this same tree,’ said another.

‘This makes me want to cry,’ said a third.

Another added: ‘Sad beige tree for sad beige Christmas in a sad beige house.’

‘This is the ugliest tree I’ve ever seen in my life I hope the lights catch the wood on fire and burn the abomination to the ground!! Merry Christmas!!’ explained someone else.

Despite the negativity the tree has sold out in a number of stores, proving it was popular for Christmas this year, and it will likely be brought back again for 2023

Customers who purchased the tree praised it on the Target website.

‘Great tree for a small interior space. Modern but with a sense of style and personality. Especially lovely for an Aussie summer Christmas. With lights and a few well chosen decorations it has been a joy… lots of friends wanted to know where to get it and were very surprised when I said Target,’ one woman said.

‘Very impressed with the quality of this tree. Came exactly as pictured. Would highly recommend,’ said another.
