Austin Butler reveals what he REALLY thinks about Australian coffee ahead of the Sydney premiere of his new film The Bikeriders

Hollywood star Austin Butler has revealed his love of Australian coffee.

The star of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, 32, gushed about the coffee culture Down Under on Thursday. 

‘The coffee is the best in the world,’ he told The Daily Telegraph ahead of the Sydney premiere of his new film The Bikeriders. 

‘I always want to get a cup of coffee [here]… I love everything about Australia, it feels like home, truly.’ 

Butler, who spent 18 months on the Gold Coast filming Elvis, also claimed that he liked to drive around the country to ‘disappear’, and looks forward to spending more time in Australia.

His new film The Bikeriders is due to screen as part of the Special Presentations at the Sydney Film Festival at the State Theatre on Thursday night.

But fans who didn’t score a ticket to the premiere will have to wait almost a month before the movie opens to general release in Australia on July 1. 

Butler’s co-stars in the film include Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, and Michael Shannon.

Aussie actors Damon Herriman and Toby Wallace also play key characters.

Set in the late 1960s, The Bikeriders chronicles the rise of a fictional outlaw motorcycle club in Chicago, known as The Vandals. 

Though it is a work of fiction, the new film is based on Danny Lyon’s 1967 book of photography of the same name.

For his star turn in Luhrmann’s Elvis, Butler won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, and he was also nominated for an Academy Award.  

His last visit Down Under was to attend the film’s premiere back in 2022.

Austin’s other recent credits include films Dune: Part Two and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
