Australia vs Pakistan: Anger after SPRINKLERS are turned on before T20 match

Farcical scenes in Hobart as the SPRINKLERS are turned on just moments before Australia women’s T20 match against Pakistan: ‘This would NOT happen in a men’s game’

Australia’s match against Pakistan descended into chaos before a ball was even bowled as the sprinklers were turned on in Hobart.

Minutes before the hosts were set to take to the field for the second game of their T20 series, the sprinklers inexplicably sprung to life, stirring confusion among the players and fans in attendance.

The matter was swiftly dealt with but the farcical scenes infuriated onlookers, with Anna Lanning labelling it ‘absolutely disgraceful’.

Similar scenes were witnessed last year when A-League Women’s stars got soaked when sprinklers were accidentally switched on just 45 seconds after full time.

Australia are unchanged for the January 26 fixture, while Pakistan have included batter Aliya Riaz at the expense of Sadaf Shamas. The hosts can secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series after their dominant eight-wicket win at North Sydney Oval on Tuesday.

The scheduling of the match has been a topic of discussion after star Australia allrounder Ashleigh Gardner expressed her discomfort with playing on Australia Day.

The proud Muruwari woman, who is playing, said the date was a day of hurt and mourning.
