Australian bushfires: Tearful Margot Robbie asks fans to donate

Margot Robbie breaks down just hours before the Golden Globes as she shares bittersweet photos from her childhood in Australia and asks fans to donate to bushfire victims

Margot Robbie broke down in tears on Sunday as she pleaded with fans to donate whatever they could to the victims of the devastating Australian bushfires.

Ahead of the Golden Globes, Margot, 29, took to Instagram to share a number of rarely seen childhood photographs from her family’s farm in rural Queensland.

‘I’m sure you’re all aware of what is happening in Australia at the moment with the fires. I didn’t want to show you more pictures of the devastation,’ said Margot.

While filming herself talking, a tearful Margot continued:  ‘I really wanted to share with you some personal photos from my childhood.’

She then focused her camera on several photo albums in her lap, showing herself having fun in rural Australia as a youngster in the 1990s.

Pointing to one picture, Margot said: ‘This is my cousin and I out at the farm in Australia growing up… This is making mud pies. Riding motorbikes.’

‘It is so needed right now. Please if you haven’t already donated. Please do. Let’s give future generations the kind of childhood I was so lucky to have.’
