Australian café serves new burger but not what it seems

No, this delicious looking item that has you drooling isn’t a cheeseburger, but you will be forgiven if the ‘cheese’ and ‘meat’ has you fooled.

This is in fact a macaroon, served up by Ooomph Café in East Gosford, New South Wales.

The bite-sized treat doesn’t taste savoury as many would assume, with the ‘buns’ being made out of sweet macaroons.

The fun doesn’t stop there, with the ‘beef’ being a caramel disc dipped in chocolate and nuts, the sauce is made out of jam and the ‘cheese’ is white chocolate.

This macaroon has sent the café’s followers into a spin, as many can’t believe that what they’re seeing is a sugar-filled delight.

This isn’t the only time that Ooomph Café has turned the humble macaroon on its head, as they released a limited edition one for Valentine’s Day.

For this creation they stacked a pink macaroon on top of a tart, which was adorned with raspberries, flowers and of course, love hearts.

Macaroons were at their most trendy only a couple of years ago but more recently the excitement over the French delight has died down.

Normally made with two meringue discs sandwiching a buttercream, jam or ganache filling, the macaroon has been around for centuries.

That doesn’t mean people will stop reimagining the tasty sweet in a myriad of ways.
