  • The discount store recently announced a new range of stylish rattan pieces
  • But they have been ‘coming soon’ or ‘out of stock’ since they were posted online
  • One customer vented frustration saying: ‘Not that it’s ever available to purchase!’

Shoppers have vented their frustration over a new range of Kmart furniture which has been unavailable ever since it appeared online.

Australian interior enthusiasts were delighted when the discount store added trendy woven pieces such as a $399 day bed, a $169 chest of drawers and a $119 entertainment unit to its popular rattan collection.

But their excitement turned to disappointment when they spotted a ‘sneaky’ disclaimer at the top of each item’s description which says: ‘Subject to availability, this product is available for purchase.’

While the website says the range is available in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, WA, and New Zealand’s North Island, it doesn’t seem like many have been able to get their hands on it.

A recent post on Kmart’s Instagram account sparked dozens of outraged responses, with many demanding to know when the pieces would be in stock.

‘Not that it’s ever available to purchase!’ one person raged.

‘Changes from ‘coming soon’ to ‘out of stock’ online and stays that way’.

A second said: ‘When will this be back in stock? Not available to order online and no stock in any stores near me.’

A third said it was a ‘shame’ the products are only available online, while a fourth added: ‘Frustrating when hardly anything is available.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Kmart for comment.

It’s no surprise that shoppers are frustrated.

The furniture, which joins previous pieces in the rattan collection including a sideboard, bedside table, cabinet and storage shelves, is extraordinarily affordable compared to similar styles on the market.

At $399, the rattan day bed is much cheaper than models from designer brands which start from $1,400 and can cost up to $2,000.

Earlier this month, Kmart was among the Australian retailers hardest hit by a week-long pause on postal services which caused major delays in delivery to customers.

Australia Post was forced to stop all collections from online shops in two states as 500 staff members were plunged into self-isolation after being exposed to Covid.

Kmart responded by offering incentives to encourage customers to use the ‘click and collect’ option on its website.

The retailer has experienced a significant growth in online sales since the pandemic began, as people in locked down states continue to place record orders.
