Australian Rugby Union legend Simon Poidevin lists his Goulburn acreage for $1million

A prime parcel of land owned by Rugby World Cup champ Simon Poidevin is set to go under the hammer.

Located just outside of Goulburn, NSW, 196kms from Sydney, the 17hectare slice of  farmland has been listed for an eye watering $1million.

Perched on a high spot with commanding views of the surrounding pastures, the property has already received approval for the construction of a dwelling.

Situated only five minutes from Goulburn, the land was purchased by the 1991 World Cup winner’s family 30 years ago and adjoins their main holding.

It has been used for grazing cattle ever since, reported Realestate.com on Monday.

‘I grew up on the family farm with mum and dad and four brothers and sisters,’ Poidevin, 65, told the publication.

‘I then went to Sydney and did a degree in agricultural science, and have retained a very strong interest in running the farm since.’

‘Goulburn has been a great town to me. I still have very strong connections to the area,’ he said.

The rugby great said that his family have had the farm near Goulburn for more than a century and plans to retain the majority of their original holding.

Potential buyers have been told by sales agents that the current parcel up for grabs is ‘perfect’ for a hobby farm that is only two hours travel time from Sydney.

Features include access to bore water and main electricity.

The land has been cleared and boasts lush grassland perfect for raising cattle.

Other highlights include a construction clearance that will allow buyers to build on any part of the property.

According to the last census in 2021, Goulburn recorded a population of 24,565 and is expected to grow by 30 per cent by 2036.
