Australian Survivor contestant files lawsuit over injury after breaking her collarbone during 2023 season

Australian Survivor contestant Jackie Glazier has filed a lawsuit after sustaining an injury during a challenge in the 2023 season.

Glazier, who starred on the Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains season, has taken legal action against the show’s production company, Endemol Shine Australia after breaking her collarbone, the Sunday Herald Sun reported.

The injury to her right shoulder also included ligament damage and the development of thoracic outlet syndrome, which has left her with pain and restricted movement in her shoulder and arm.

She has lodged a lawsuit in the Victorian Supreme Court, seeking compensation for damages, loss of earnings (both past and future), and medical expenses.

Glazier was contracted by Endemol Shine Australia to take part in the show and was paid $25,000.

The incident occurred when she was instructed to jump on top of two rotating boxes before rolling off into a pool of mud.

Several players used a technique that saw them somersault off the boxes and land on their backs in the mud, rather than landing on their heads which could have resulted in serious injury. 

However, Glazier and fellow contestant George Mladenov both failed to execute the landing and sustained injuries.

Glazier was forced to leave the competition due to her injury.

The legal claim, filed by Arnold Thomas & Becker on Glazier’s behalf, alleges the pit, which contained only 30 centimetres of water rather than 1m to 1.5m deep, was not prepared to provide a safe landing.

Since the show, Glazier has claimed she is been unable to do a range of household duties.

She claimed the injury has had a long-term impact on her health and professional life.
