Australian TV shows fail to reach one million viewers for TWO MONTHS

What’s happened to all the viewers? TV shows have failed to reach one million mark for TWO MONTHS… amid ratings flops like My Kitchen Rules, The Voice and the Logies

Australian TV shows have been failing to draw in more than one million viewers for a staggering two months.

Putting sporting events and Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding aside, the last time a program hit the one million mark was the My Kitchen Rules’ finale on May 13.

Shows that have previously proved to be a success have dwindled in viewers, with Ninja Warrior, The Voice and even the Logies all flopping in the ratings war this year.

The Voice’s early episodes just about scraped one million viewers, but the finale drew in just less than the seven-figure mark.

And it appears to be a steady decline for the singing competition, with the final drawing in 400,000 less punters than last year – which was also a decrease from the previous year.

Australian Ninja Warrior became Channel Nine’s runaway hit last year when it debuted to record-breaking ratings of 1.68 million people for its season premiere.

Oh dear: The Logie Awards drew in 1.766million in 2017 - but attracted only 850,000 viewers this year (pictured, Gold Logie winner Grant Denyer)

However the program was unable to deliver the same numbers this year, with the season two debut recording just 929,000 metro viewers.

This amounted to a 45 per cent overall decline in viewership,

And even though 1.5 million people tuned in to watch My Kitchen Rules – the figures are still significantly fewer than what they used to be.

It appears people are failing to stay tuned to their televisions past the 7.30pm mark.

Both Nine and Seven’s news programs are getting around one million viewers each, but many fail to keep watching once they are over.
