A woman has revealed how she transformed her grubby shower screen in seconds with two affordable supermarket products.

Hayley, from Victoria, used Woolworths’ own-brand dishwashing liquid and vinegar to clean the glass after discovering the hack on TikTok.

Photos shared on Facebook show the shower screen was originally covered with tough soap stains, but a quick wipe of the products – which cost $2.40 for the two – left it sparkling clean.

‘I saw this on TikTok. I hate cleaning! This was done with dish soap and white vinegar,’ Hayley wrote in the Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia Facebook group.

She added: ‘The bottom of the screen still has some scum.’

To remove the build-up and water marks, Hayley said she added equal amounts of both products to a Chux Dishwand handle and scrubbed the surface.

Apart from the bottom of the shower, Hayley was amazed by the transformation.

‘Oh my gosh. I’ve just done mine and it looks great! Thanks,’ one woman replied.

‘Yep this is all I use for shower cleaning and heavier scum now! So good,’ said another.

A third added: ‘Exactly what I use – and I’m a cleaner!’

Others recommended rinsing the glass each time you shower to prevent soap scum from accumulating across the bottom.

Top ways to use vinegar when cleaning

Vinegar is nontoxic and eco-friendly, making it the ultimate multipurpose cleaning solution

It’s a great cleaner and disinfectant because it’s made from acetic acid

Acetic acid is a colourless organic compound that gives vinegar its sour taste and pungent smell

Vinegar can be used to clean:

  • Glass
  • Countertops
  • Shower and bathtubs
  • Toilets
  • Floors
  • Dishwashers, ovens and microwaves
  • Laundry

In a TikTok video, she also recommended Gumption paste and Bar Keepers Friend, which are both available at Woolworths.

As well as the shower, Kacie uses the products to clean other areas in the bathroom, such as the sink and bathtub because they work ‘exceptionally well’.

She said cleaning the shower or bathroom doesn’t need to be a complicated process provided you use the right products.
