Awkward GWS fans embarrassed passionate Richmond supporter

Fresh off the record lowest crowd in AFL finals history, GWS Giants fans have landed a fresh blow to their status as the most criticised fan base in the sport.

Two Greater Western Sydney fans appeared on the Morning Show on Friday morning to battle a Richmond Tigers fan in team chants ahead of their qualifying final match on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.

The Tigers fan, who says he attended the club’s last grand final appearance in 1982, produced a humourous and original chant. The same could not be said for his counterparts however.

The Giants couple could only summon ‘here come the Giants’ before losing their place and awkwardly finishing out of time.

GWS find themselves one win away from a maiden grand final for the second consecutive year, while depraved Richmond fans will be hoping their side end a 25-year drought.

Over 95,000 tickets have been snapped up by Tigers fans, compared to just 3,000 by Giants supporters in what could be the most lopsided crowd in AFL history.

The minuscule turnout from the Sydney-based club will need to produce something better than their Channel Seven representatives.

‘We’re the youngest club but we’ve got the biggest heart. We’re going to do it for Sydney because we’re the real Sydney team,’ Seb the Giants fan said.

His partner, Kat, said she hadn’t attended an AFL game before 2008 when she watched a Richmond game at the MCG, but was now a committed GWS supporter.

The two groups were then asked to perform a song to prove who had the strongest fan base in an extremely cringeworthy segment.

‘Wagga, Wagga, Wagga, whiskers on my togga, togga, razza, razza, rah rah rah, who are, who are, who are we? We are the boys from the MCG. R-I-C-H-M-O-N-D. What do we do, eat them alive!’ Richo the Tigers fan chanted.

Seb and Kat replied with ‘here come the Giants’ mixed in with claps, before Seb finished and Kat continued on.

Larry Emdur cringed from the studio as the two laughed off the awkward mix-up.

‘Doing so well till the last chorus… that was great guys,’ he said.
