He’s the former Australian Idol contestant who went on to host Video Hits but was cut for exposing himself and simulating masturbation on a trophy at the 2006 ARIAs.
Now Axle Whitehead has spoken about that infamous incident.
In an interview on Hit 105’s Stav, Abby and Matt with Osher on Wednesday, the 36-year-old said: ‘It was a blessing in disguise.’

The singer and actor was promoting his upcoming stint as hosting Channel 7’s new game show, The Wall.
At first reluctant to talk about exposing himself – despite each of the radio presenters probing him – Axle softened.
When asked if it was the one thing he always got asked about the hunk said: ‘It hasn’t been brought up for a while to be honest.’

Axle was unsuccessful in the debut Idol season in 2003, and went on to host Video Hits on Channel Ten.
However, his Australian television career went balls-up when he exposed his genitals at the 2006 ARIAs.
He had been presenting an award to Aussie hip-hop group Hilltop Hoods at the time, though it was not aired.

After parting ways with Network Ten following the incident, Axle appeared on Home and Away between 2009 and 2014.
Axle then moved to the US and scored a small role in the US TV show Shameless and appeared in seven episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SH.I.E.L.D., although he has since said that he was often turned down for roles after relocating to America.
And while he is still based in LA, Axle has said that he plans to move home to Australia for good next year
