A baby boy has been rushed to hospital suffering severe burns to his upper body and face.

Paramedics responded to a call out at Morgan Dr in Traralgon, south-east Victoria, at about 4.45pm on Friday.

The infant, who is thought to be about one year old, was treated on the scene before being driven to Latrobe Regional Hospital in a stable condition, Herald Sun reports.

It is understood the young boy suffered significant facial injuries.

The cause of the burns, however, is as yet unknown.

A spokesperson for the Country Fire Authority confirmed that firefighters were not called to the scene.

An air ambulance was initially summoned, it is understood, but was called off due to bad weather.

More to come.
