Baby girl dies at house in Merseyside after paramedics race to scene – as police launch probe into cause of death

  • Emergency services were called to the address in Birkenhead before 11am
  • They had received reports that the baby girl was unwell and had responded
  • Police have now launched an investigation into the death of the child  

Police have launched an investigation in Merseyside after a baby girl died at a property in Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called to the property on Dundonald Street just before 11am this morning after receiving reports that the baby was unwell.  

The child was pronounced dead at the scene. 

In a statement a Merseyside Police spokesman said: ‘Police remain at the scene and a detailed examination of the circumstances will be carried out to establish the cause of death as per normal force procedure.’ 

The Liverpool Echo reported that ambulances and a police car were still parked in the street at 12.15pm.

A small amount of people were also have believed to have gathered outside the property.  

North West Ambulance service said they had sent two vehicles to the property today including a rapid response vehicle and an advanced paramedic.
