A baby almost swallowed an ‘ecstasy’ pill at a holiday house after schoolies trashed it the day before without cleaning up.
Simon and Mel Fenwick arrived at the $500-a-night property on the Gold Coast to discover the house was a mess and the kitchen appliances didn’t work.
Schoolies had stayed at the apartment the family booked through Stayz, with the owners claiming they lied on the application to move in, saying it was for a wedding.

Jack was stopped before he could swallow the purple pill feared to be ecstasy or something else dangerous the schoolies left behind
‘We started unpacking and finding little bits and pieces wrong with the house, vomit on the couch, empty or half-empty beer and vodka cans,’ Mr Fenwick told 9 News.
‘I think it’s quite disgusting that we weren’t told to some degree the amount of filth that was in the house.’
Then their six-month-old son Jack was lying on a mat in the lounge room and found something lying under the couch that he put in his mouth.
Mr Fenwick stopped him before the little boy could swallow the purple pill he feared was ecstasy or something else dangerous the Schoolies left behind.
‘I realised that he hadn’t put it in his mouth, he’d just put his hand in his mouth but we just watched him for an hour or so to make sure nothing was wrong,’ he said.

Appliances at the house they booked on Stayz were also not functioning
Ms Fenwick said though the contents of the pill was still unknown, she was terrified that Jack could have died.
‘One of the most scary things I’ve been through, given we’ve spent the last three years trying to have him through IVF and to know that if he swallowed that pill he potentially could have died,’ she said.
The family has not yet been offered compensation, but the owners said they would ‘discuss this directly with the current guests’.
They also said they would not be renting out the house during schoolies week to prevent something similar from happening again.
