Bachelorette Sophie Monk continues to smash ratings

The first-ever celebrity Bachelorette proved to be a hit with viewers during her debut on Wednesday, beating ALL seven former Bachelor and Bachelorette season premieres in the ratings.

And the Australian public appear invested in Sophie Monk’s journey to love, as her second episode draw even more TV viewers on Thursday.

The 37-year-old came close to attracting one million eyeballs, a figure not far off most finale episodes.

Thursday night’s episode drew a whopping 978,000 across the  five-city metro demographic, picking up an additional 27,000 viewers from its premiere of 951,000.  

During the second episode, Sophie faced her fears on a high-rope trapeze, kissed her first suitor Jarrod, stripped down for a sexy photoshoot and sent limping crier Jourdan home.

The episode’s promo also teased drama between the bachelors, promised eye-candy with shirtless contestants and showed the vulnerable star on the verge of tears.

Sophie’s second episode came very close to beating Bachelor Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson’s finale episode, which leveled an average of 980,000 viewers during its screening.

Within the top five rated episodes during the night, The Bachelorette was the only non-news program to make the cut.

Clearly the most popular Bachelorette thus far,  the blonde bombshell’s debut episode on Wednesday smashed it in the ratings.

However, Nine’s The Block failed to be knocked from its top spot during The Bachelorette’s premiere, drawing in 1.026 million viewers. 

As reported by AdNews, Sophie’s debut as the Bachelorette beat the ratings of the debut of Sam Frost and Georgia Love’s series.

Georgia’s premiere episode last year managed to gain just 655,000 viewers, while Sam Frost drew 875,000 viewers in 2016.

During The Bachelorette on Wednesday, Sophie broke down in tears when she admitted that she regrets ‘choosing a career’ over love. 

‘I feel like I chose my career, and you can’t really have both. I wish I could have balanced it better,’ she said. 

The former Bardot singer, who spent a considerable amount of her career trying to make it in Hollywood, insisted the choice was her one biggest regret.

The admission came in front of her sister, Angelique, prior to entering the mansion for the first time. 

However Sophie has admitted that she’s found a man on the show, and gushed about him to The Daily Telegraph.

‘The man I have now found is the perfect man for me,’ Sophie said.

‘There was a time when I thought maybe I would never find someone,’ the beauty admitted.
