Bachelorette’s Stu appeared on Filthy Rich and Homeless

He’s widely believed to win Sophie Monk’s heart on The Bachelorette.

But Stu Laundy’s entrance into the mansion isn’t his first reality TV appearance this year, with the millionaire pub baron appearing on SBS’ Filthy Rich and Homeless a few months ago.

A look back at that series, released July this year, saw the separated father-of-four speak about being ‘very lonely’.

Flashback! Rumoured winner Stu Laundy’s Bachelorette appearance isn’t his first on reality TV with the pub magnate appearing on SBS’ Filthy Rich and Homeless in July

A scene in the third episode saw him making a bed in a temporary housing facility, where he admitted the experience of fending for himself was new.

‘This bed puts my bed making tally – in the last 20-years – to two,’ Stu confessed to camera.

He opened-up about his now vanished loneliness in a post-show interview, given around the same time the Bachelorette was filming its final episodes this year.

From lonely to loved-up?

‘In my down time without the kids I was just wandering,’ Stu told The Daily Telegraph of his situation after his marriage fell apart.

Switching to present, and then past tense, he added: ‘It’s lonely. Very lonely. For those years I was very lonely.’

His use of the past tense ‘was lonely,’ indicated Stu no longer considered himself lonely at the time of interview.

‘I came out of that experience saying I wanted to change it up… I couldn’t be counted on,’ he said of his Filthy Rich and Homeless filming.

But, back in July, when Sophie Monk was nearly finished choosing the man she’d spend the rest of his life with, things were looking up for the pub magnate.

‘Essentially I’ve been on a pretty good path ever since the homeless thing,’ he said.

‘It was this vicious cycle I was in for two years… All my friends wanted me to hook up with someone. I never said no. Sometimes it was Tinder.’

But now, Stu’s settled down, and even got rid of the ‘party balcony’ he had in his Kirribilli home.

‘I’m just making some changes,’ he told the publication.
