Back to reality! Today Show hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo jet into Sydney Airport after spending two weeks in Paris for Olympics coverage

Today Show hosts Karl Stafanovic and Sarah Abo are back in Sydney after spending two weeks in Paris for Channel Nine’s Olympics coverage.

Karl, 49, and Sarah, 38, were all smiles as they touched down on home soil at Sydney Airport on Saturday, looking happy and fresh-faced from the 20-plus hour flight.

Dressing comfortably for the long flight, Karl wore a pair of black chinos and a plain black shirt under a dark blue duffle coat.

The TV host finished his travel ensemble with a pair of dark trainers and a trucker cap with a stallion emblazoned on the front.

He also wore a black leather travel bag slung over his shoulder as he pushed two suitcases through the terminal.

Sarah too was dressed for comfort in a pair of loose fitting black pants.

She matched this with a black buttoned up jacket with the sleeves rolled up, over a white shirt.

Going fresh-faced for the flight, Sarah let her chestnut locks hang loose to her shoulders.

Taking the easier route, Sarah preferred to cart her multiple suitcases on a luggage trolley.

The pair seemed in high spirits as they made their way through the airport, appearing to share a joke, with both Karl and Sarah smiling broadly as they wheeled their luggage.

It appears that Karl might be relived to be back on home soil, with the Today host recently labelling the French as ‘rude, pompous and weird sexually’.

‘The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,’ he told the Kyle and Jackie O Show last week.

‘They’re kind of a weird nation, sexually’ he added

Jackie Henderson then asked Karl if he has attempted to speak French with the locals, to which the presenter provided a curt reply.

‘Do you know what? I’ve stopped trying. I don’t really like them that much,’ Karl said.

‘They’re so rude. Oh, they’re really up themselves… they’re pompous. They do a good burger though. I do like the burgers and stuff over here.

And he was at it again on Friday morning as he reacted to vision of French steeplechase star Alice Finot’s heartwarming marriage proposal after she finished fourth in her race at the Stade de France.

Sarah introduced vision of the romantic moment by saying, ‘Paris, the city of love, and love was all around today.

‘Look at this beautiful proposal … she proposed to him! Yes, Karl, it’s a modern woman, I’m here for it, I love it.’

Karl was not impressed, however, and light-heartedly replied, ‘What’s wrong with him? Why didn’t he do it first? I don’t understand. Do you think that’s cool?’
