A woman has baked a 6ft cake of a nurse hugging Father Christmas to thank NHS staff for their life saving work on the frontline.
Rosie Dummer, 53, spent two weeks painstakingly preparing the giant cake which served up 1,200 portions and weighed more than 30st.
The mother-of-four, from Manchester, was asked to prepare a cake for Channel 5’s Amazing Cakes and Bakes, which is set to air later this month, and wanted to create a fitting tribute to the NHS staff.
She said she completed the cake in ‘record time’ after spending up to 16 hours a day over the two weeks crafting the edible treat before delivering it to the Royal Bolton Hospital.

The 6ft-tall creation depicts a life-sized Santa sharing a wholesome embrace with a nurse.

The 360,000 calorie dessert was presented to staff at the hospital on December 4 and fed 1,200 hungry workers after their shifts ended.
Rosie said she was thrilled by how the cake turned out after spending sleepless nights preparing it.
Rosie, who posts her creations on her Instagram page (@rosiecakediva), has since told FEMAIL: ‘I had made a cake of Captain Tom Moore on his 100th Birthday for Blackburn Hospital and it had really lifted their spirits so it just seemed like a great way of saying thank you and acknowledging what they are going through during this crappy year.
‘In the beginning we were clapping every Thursday but that tailed off and I feel strongly that we shouldn’t forget that they have been grafting all this time and are still going.
‘My daughter is a fourth year medical student now preparing to give the vaccine when it becomes available. Doing something special for our health workers just seemed like a little something I could do that was positive. I know it’s not much but it was something in my power to do.
‘I have a long standing relationship with Bolton as I host their food festival every year so together with the council we established that we could do something really special to acknowledge the hospital staff and community nursing team.

Rosie only started baking after she left the army, where she was the first female helicopter pilot in the British military, as she wanted to make cakes for her family.
She has since cooked up a career creating marvellous creations, and has appeared on Extreme Cake Makers on Channel 4 and Netflix, as well as Channel 5’s Wonderful World of Chocolate.
Andy Ennis, chief operating officer at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust added: ‘We were delighted with Rosie’s kind gesture. It has put such a smile on people’s faces after what has been a tough year for our staff.
‘The cake was absolutely incredible, and also very tasty! Thank you Rosie.’
The cake will be featured on a Christmas episode of Amazing Cakes and Bakes on Channel 5 on December 12.
