Ballon d’Or 2024: Everything you need to know including start time and how to watch as voting results are ‘leaked’ ahead of tonight’s award ceremony

One of football’s most prestigious individual awards will be handed out tonight when the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or is announced.

Given to the player voted as the best in the world by journalists, the list of former winners is a who’s who of football greats.

With winners the likes of Bobby Charlton and Gerd Muller to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, it has become a much revered trophy for players.

And this year’s finalists for the men’s award has the likes of Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Rodri and Toni Kross, though the voting results have been ‘leaked.’

Meanwhile, Aitana Bonmati is among the finalists as she looks for her second consecutive Ballon d’Or Feminin.

 What time is the Ballon d’Or ceremony?

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 28 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France.

The French venue has hosted the award since the 2019 edition of the ceremony.

It will begin at 7pm GMT and is set to be hosted by Sandy Heribert and former chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

With no less than nine awards to be handed out, fans can expect a very busy event including finding out the best goal keeper of year as well as men’s and women’s club of the year.

How to watch the Ballon d’Or

Mail Sport will also have live coverage of the event, right here on the Daily Mail website. 

Fans will be able to watch the Ballon d’Or ceremony across a number of different platforms.

Firstly the L’Equipe Youtube channel will be live boradcasting the event, though it is worth noting there may be some geo-restrictions.

For fans in England, it will be broadcast on TNT Sports and their streaming platform Discovery+.

As mentioned before, there will be a total of nine awards handed out at this evening’s award ceremony.

The Kopa Trophy is given to the best player under the age of 21 from last year with past winners including Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingha,m.

The Yashin Trophy is awarded to the best goalkeeper, named after Lev Yashin – the only Ballon d’Or winning goalkeeper.

The Gerd Muller Trophy is awarded to the highest scorer across the 2023/24 season and the Socrates Award acknowledges the player who has done the most humanitarian work.

There is also awards for the best men’s and women’s coaches from the previous season as well Men’s and Women’s Club of the Year.
