Bandaged bride shocked by bridal party in matching casts

One South Carolina bride was in the full swing of last minute wedding preparations the week before her wedding, when misfortune struck.

Jaclyn Summers’, 28, picture-perfect dreams of walking down the aisle were slighted when the bride-to-be violently tumbled down a set of stairs and broke her wrist just 10 days before her wedding day.

She was gutted when she was rushed to the hospital and was told her wrist was broken and would swell until the day she tied the knot.

The non-profit communities manager explained it all went downhill while she was home alone and heard a suspicious noise in the upstairs and suspected her dogs were up to some mischief.

‘I thought I would try and sneak up on them and I slyly thought I could clear the dog gate that was on the stairs but instead I fell down the stairs,’ she explained on her fiasco.

‘I had never broken a bone before in my life. It hurt a lot and I knew it was broken – I was in pure shock,’ she added.

Thankfully Jaclyn’s fiancé Jonathan and her parents were able to rush her to the hospital, where she had plates and screws fitted in the emergency operation.

But as her wrist was getting fixed, the bride couldn’t help but lament the brace she’d have to wear on her big day.

Seven days later on August 31 her family and friends gathered in the lush gardens of the Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina, to see Jaclyn and Jonathan say ‘I do.’

Her bridesmaids tried to conceal her bandages with lace and by tweaking her wedding gown to cover the deed, but in the end Jaclyn had no choice but to wear the brace openly.

And although the bandages disheartened the bride, she was shocked when she arrived for her bridal party photo shoot and found every single person, including her husband-to-be, donning the exact same wrist bandage on their arms for a hilarious and well-coordinated surprise.

‘The photographer told me to do my signature pose – holding my arm up – and that’s when I heard Jonathan next to me say, “I wear it better,”‘ the bride revealed.

Confused the bride glanced over at Jonathan and realized he was raising his hand while wearing a sling.

‘Then all of a sudden I heard all the groomsmen say, “No, we do,” and I saw all the groomsmen hold their arms up with these bandages on,’ she said.

‘Then I turn and hear my girls say, “We wear it better.” That’s when I realized everyone had one. I was in hysterics,’ the bride added.

The bride couldn’t believe that her entire bridal party unveiled left hand bandages to match her injury for the photos she was dreading to take with the cumbersome cast- and the act of kindness left her in tears.

‘It was totally unexpected. I was laughing to the point of crying,’ she revealed.

The heart-warming photos of the group reveal a glowing bride and an ear-to-ear smiling bridal party, every single one eager to show off their wrist casts.

Although the day wasn’t completely perfect for the young bride, her friend’s compassionate prank made the day all the more memorable.

‘The one thing I was a little bit upset about was that my hand was swollen so I had to buy a fake ring two sizes bigger because my real one didn’t fit,’ Jaclyn sadly explained.

‘I had no idea they had planned this. It was hilarious – it definitely made me see the funny side,’ she said on the upside.

‘I had waited all that time – but I decided it was a part of the story. It ended up being a magical day. It was everything I ever wanted,’ Jaclyn added.
