Bankstown: Dramatic moment Tesla veers off the road and narrowly misses young woman before slamming into a power pole

New CCTV reveals the moment a woman was nearly hit by an out-of-control Tesla in a crash that left four people, including a mother and young daughter, trapped.

Live power wires were brought down on top of a nearby Subaru after the electric vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Raymond Street at Bankstown, in Sydney’s south-west, about 10.45am on Thursday.

CCTV footage has revealed the car nearly hit a pedestrian in the incident, while the driver and his passenger – as well as a mother and daughter – were trapped following the crash.

A bystander told Nine News there were ‘wires all over the place’, with neighbouring businesses shutting for the day as emergency crews worked to restore power.

‘I heard this deafening noise and some people screaming,’ the man said.

‘I went out and I saw wires all over the place.

‘As many as 10 people were trying to assist, trying to smash the window.’

The driver and his passenger, both in their 70s, were taken to Liverpool Hospital with multiple injuries, but were stable as of Friday.

Raymond Street was blocked off between Restwell Street and West Terrace following the incident.

The mother and young daughter are understood to be freed uninjured after the electricity was shut off.

NSW Police said they are looking into the incident.
