Bannon hires attorney as he prepares for House committee

Steve Bannon, who has been cast out of President Trump’s circle and lost his job running Breitbart news, has hired a lawyer as he prepares to face House Intelligence Committee investigators.

Bannon has hired Bill Burck of the law firm Quinn Emanuel, the Daily Beast reported.

Sources told the publication he plans to fully cooperate with the House Intelligence Committee, which has scheduled an interview with him next week.

The panel has fallen into partisan camps, as Republicans led by chairman Rep. Devin Nunes dig for information to muddy the FBI and the golden showers dossier, while Democrats push to call back witnesses to grill them on Russian election interference and ties between Trump associates and Russia.

Bannon’s lawyer, who participated in the Martha Stewart prosecution and is a former Special Counsel and Deputy Counsel to President George W. Bush, also represents ex-White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and current White House counsel Don McGahn.

Both are considered key fact witnesses in any case special counsel Robert Mueller tries to muster on obstruction of justice grounds.

McGahn communicated with fired former acting attorney general Sally Yates, who came to him after concluding that former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn had not been truthful with the FBI and could be subject to blackmail.

Bannon is in the midst of a highly public falling out with the White House, after he trashed members of the president’s family in the new book ‘Fire and Fury.’

Bannon called a Trump Tower meeting in 2016 that included a Russian lawyer, Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner ‘treasonous.’

He later said he meant to refer only to Manafort, not to the president’s eldest son.

The president tweeted that Bannon had ‘lost his mind’ following the release of a slew of critical statements by Bannon.

White House senior policy advisor Stephen Miller in an appearance on CNN on Sunday, calling him an ‘angry, vindictive person’ whose ‘grotesque comments are so out of touch with reality.’
