A truck driver has died after his vehicle rolled over on a busy highway in Queensland.

The semi-trailer was driving near the intersection of the highway and Kilcoy Murgon Road at Barambah, northwest of Brisbane, when it crashed at 2am on Thursday.

Queensland Police confirmed the driver, who is believed to have been the sole passenger, died at the scene before emergency services arrived.

The state’s Forensic Crash Unit are at the scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The man’s identity is yet to be confirmed, with police actively seeking information which could help with identification efforts.

The semi trailer was transporting a full load of farm produce, mostly pumpkins, which could be seen scattered along the ground next to the highway.

The truck can be seen just ahead of the numerous cartons of pumpkins having come to a rest on its side following the crash.

Traffic was disrupted along the road from the time of the crash up until about 12:15pm.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information as to what caused the crash has been urged to contact police.

The tragic crash came just eight prior to yet another accident that would claim the lives of four people while another would be rushed to hospital.

The two-vehicle crash occurred when a B-double truck and a car collided at the junction of Wenkes Rd in Chiltern, 36km south west of Albury near the NSW border, just before 10:30 am.

The four occupants within the car succumbed to their injuries while the 30-year-old truck driver was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Wodonga Acting Senior Sergeant Joel Hughes, the truck was heading north along the Hume Highway when it collided with the car when it attempted to turn onto the freeway from Wenkes Road.

‘It’s terrible — unfortunately in regional Victoria this year we’ve seen a number of lives lost on our roads and this is another tragic incident,’ he said.

‘We are still investigating the cause of this collision, but we just want all road users to be safe on our roads.’
