Barbie and Ken go on a heist! Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ocean 11 prequel is STILL HAPPENING according to producer

The pairing of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling for the Barbie movie proved to be a massive success.

And the two superstars are set to reunite for an Ocean’s 11 prequel that will be produced by Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment.

Director Jay Roach has signed on to helm the film, and the movie’s plot will take place in Europe during the 60s.

Producer Josey McNamara spoke to GamesRadar+ about the project and shared, ‘I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.’

And about the star actors — 33-year-old Robbie and 42-year-old Gosling — he gushed, ‘They’re wonderful together. The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.’

It was first announced by The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022 that Gosling was in talks to join the Ocean’s 11 production.

At the time, the publication reported that Robbie will serve as a producer, along with husband Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham.

The script was penned by Carrie Solomon, but other details haven’t been revealed.

The Ocean’s franchise took off after its debut in 2001, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon.

Warner Bros. has built a successful archive with the success of Ocean’s 11, Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13.

Ocean’s 8 came out in 2018 and featured a female-focused spin-off starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna and Anne Hathaway.

The inspiration for the Ocean’s films came from the 1960 film of the same name, which followed Rat Pack megastars Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.

It comes after Barbie became the studio’s highest-grossing movie of all time in US cinemas.

The summer smash helped the studio rake in $537.5 million at the domestic box office as of August.

And Greta Gerwig has become the most successful female debut director of all time, eclipsing the $153 million earned by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck for the 2019 blockbuster Captain Marvel.

The fantasy comedy follows Barbie and Ken as they embark on a journey of self-discovery following an existential crisis.

The film, based off the Mattel character and co-written by Gerwig with husband Noah Baumbach, has been praised for its sharp examination of femininity.
