Barbie movie teaser: Margot Robbie is a bombshell in a black-and-white swimsuit

The very first Barbie movie teaser was shared early on Friday morning.

Margot Robbie is seen as Barbie in a black-and-white one piece swimsuit with sexy open-toe heels on a beach. She is larger-than-life as little kids stare up at her, throwing their baby dolls away as they gaze on at the new, fabulous bombshell.

And Ryan Gosling as Ken pops up too as he is seen in a black top and headband with friends surrounding him.

There is also a view of Barbie’s wonderful plastic world.

The blonde looks out at a pink town that seems similar to the loud Barbie toys that started selling in the 1980s, like the pink and white townhouses and convertible cars, that bared the tacky cotton candy color.

And in another scene, Barbie is seen in a metallic outfit as she dances inside a club.

Margot as the massive swimsuit Barbie on the desolate beach is a spin on the imposing monolith in the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the sci-fi movie’s score is also used to drive home the point that Barbie is a mysterious new wonder.

The clip ends quickly with not much plot alluded to.

The teaser was first shown Thursday night during a sneak preview screenings of Avatar: The Way of Water.

Fans were quite surprised to find the first trailer for Barbie attached to it.

News of the Barbie trailer attached to Thursday screenings of the Avatar sequel spread quickly through social media, though fans were also disappointed that the trailer has not been made available online quite yet.

However, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed on Twitter that the teaser trailer will arrive online on Friday, though that still didn’t appease fans who wanted to see it now.

The film comes out in July 2023 and it from Greta Gerwig.

In November Gerwig said she was worried that the Barbie movie could end her career.

The Little Women filmmaker was keen to work with Robbie, who had secured rights to the story, but Greta admitted she feared the movie was a terrible mistake.

Speaking to Dua Lipa on the ‘At Your Service’ podcast, Greta, 39, said: ‘It was something that was exciting because it was terrifying. I think that was a big part of it, like: “Oh, no, Barbie.”

‘It felt like vertigo, starting to write it, like: “Where do you even begin, and what would be the story?” And I think it was that feeling I had was knowing that it would be really interesting terror. Usually that’s where the best stuff is, where you’re like, “I am terrified of that.” Anything where you’re like, “This could be a career-ender” — then you’re like, “I should probably do it.”‘

Greta first joined the project to work on the script with Noah Baumbach before taking on directorial duties.

And Margot, 32, has insisted that movie will surprise people.

She previously said: ‘Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, “Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,” but our goal is to be like, “Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted.”‘
