Ernesto Valverde is confident Barcelona will head into their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool with the La Liga title wrapped up.
Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Alaves means Barcelona could be crowned Spanish league champions as early as Wednesday night if Atletico Madrid fail to beat Valencia at home on Wednesday.

Ernesto Valverde is confident that Barcelona will soon secure the La Liga title
Barcelona beat Alaves 2-0 on Tuesday and could even be champions on Wednesday night
Valverde doesn’t want to rely on a favour, however.
‘It is very important that we get the three points that we need this weekend, but we must stay focused,’ Valverde said after Barcelone defeated Alaves.
‘Tonight’s win has left us on the verge of the title, which brings immense joy after so many months of chasing it.
‘It happens when it happens. I am just happy to be in a position to be a champion again.
‘Atletico will battle until the end and I will welcome the title when, or if, it comes.’
Sealing league glory would mean they can rest key men between Liverpool matches
As well as a morale boost, league glory would also present Valverde with the opportunity to rest players between the two legs of the semi-final with Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are wrapped up in a thrilling title race with Manchester City and play Newcastle on Saturday, May 4.
Barcelona play Celta Vigo away on the same day before they travel to Anfield.
