Barcelona ‘preparing late move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’

Barcelona preparing late ‘transfer bomb’ loan move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat… even though the cash-strapped Catalans can’t register new deals for Gavi and Marcos Alonso!

Barcelona are set to make a late move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat as they aim to bring the midfielder to the Nou Camp on loan on deadline day, according to reports.

Amrabat impressed for Morocco during the World Cup, playing a key run in the African team’s run to the semi-finals, and could now earn himself a big move to the Catalan giants.

Barcelona want to sign the 26-year-old on loan with an option to sign him permanently, as reported by Marca.

Barcelona’s pursuit of Amrabat has been described as a ‘transfer bomb’ by Marca, given that the club are currently having issues with registering player contracts with LaLiga.

In recent days, Barcelona have tried to register Gavi as a member of their first-team squad, while also trying to extend Marcos Alonso’s contract.

However, both deals have been rejected, leaving Gavi listed as an academy player for now. Alonso’s new deal has not registered by the league as it would take Barcelona over their salary cap.

Should they get a deal over the line for Amrabat, he would be Barcelona’s first signing of the January window, as the club have been restricted due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Amrabat has spent the last three years at Fiorentina, having previously been at fellow Serie A side Hellas Verona before that.

He has 18 months left on his deal at Fiorentina, with an option to extend by a further year.

After starring in Qatar for Morocco, he has been linked with a transfer to one of Europe’s biggest clubs this month.

Jurgen Klopp tried to convince him to join Liverpool by attending a meeting with Amrabat’s representatives, but the midfielder reportedly had his heart set on a switch to Atletico Madrid.

Amrabat could now get his wish to play in LaLiga, but with Barcelona instead, as they prepare to launch a late bid for him.
