Barcelona sporting director Deco has spoken out over the club making a potential move for Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, 27, has been in mixed form for Aston Villa since joining them on loan for the second half of the season from Manchester United during the January transfer window.

While he has impressed at points with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances for Unai Emery’s side, his promising shows were curtailed by a hamstring injury.

Addressing the possibility that the Blaugrana, Deco also admitted another Premier League star may be on their shortlist, as he said: ‘We like Luis Diaz, we like Rashford… and we like other wingers too’.

‘We can’t talk about players under contract with other clubs’.

Barcelona have had an impressive season under Hansi Flick, beating arch-rivals to both the LaLiga and Copa Del Rey titles while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

But after being knocked out of Europe’s biggest competition by Inter, Flick may be keen on adding reinforcements in the hope of lifting a European Cup next season.

Indeed, Barcelona were reported to be interested in signing Rashford on loan back in January, but were ultimately beaten to his signature by the Villains.

Per the Manchester Evening News, United are reportedly set to allow Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho to leave the club.

While Rashford has spent the second half of 2024-25 at Villa Park, Sancho was loaned out to Chelsea last summer, with Antony impressing for Europa Conference League finalists Real Betis.

The report also adds that senior figures within the club have been unimpressed with the form of Rasmus Hojlund, another high-profile who looks primed to leave.

United will be without European football next season after losing the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham on Wednesday.

Having already been consigned to their worst Premier League finish in history – with Ruben Amorim’s side currently 16th – they failed to salvage Champions League football at the last opportunity.

After the match, Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim revealed that he would be prepared to leave without compensation if owners and fans no longer believe he can turn the club around.

‘I have nothing to show to the fans, so in this moment it is a little bit of faith (that is required),’ he said.

‘Let’s see (on the future). Like I said before, I am always open.

‘If the board and fans feel that I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation, but I will not quit.

‘I am really confident on my job and as you see I will not change nothing in the way I do things.’
