Thousands of Barcelona’s fans flocked to the city centre on Sunday to celebrate with their team a day after it won its fifth European Cup and completed a historic treble of titles.
Having already won the Spanish league and Copa del Rey trophies, Barcelona became the first team to complete a sweep of the Champions League and its two main domestic competitions in the same season on two separate occasions – they first achieved the rare feat in 2009.
Festivities ran through the night as thousands of Barcelona fans gathered near the city’s main square after the team’s 3-1 victory over Juventus.
They completed their famous treble at the Olympiastadion in Berlin with goals from Luis Suarez and Neymar adding to Ivan Rakitic’s fourth minute opener.
And the Croat, who set Barcelona on their way, posted an intimate photo of himself alongside his esteemed teammates on the plane back to Barcelona.
Defender Gerard Pique celebrated his side’s historic victory late into the night and was filmed drinking and partying with his pop-star partner Shakira.
Neymar, who put the icing on the cake, scoring with virtually the last kick of the game, wore sunglasses as he posed for pictures on the day after the night before.
