Barnsley teen didn’t know she was pregnant until labour

A teenager who didn’t know why she was gaining weight only found out she was pregnant after she went into labour.

Connie Whitton, 19, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, had worked hard to lose three and half stone and was dismayed when she started putting on weight again without explanation.

The call centre worker told the Mirror how she had ‘constant’ backache but went about her daily life as normal, until she finally saw a doctor about her pain.

It was then that she discovered she was actually nine months pregnant and went on to give birth to her son Seth just four hours later.

Prior to her surprise pregnancy, Connie had dieted and gone from 12 stone and a size 12 to a svelte eight stone and a size six.

Her newly found body confidence wasn’t to last long as she was horrified to discover she was putting the weight back on.

Connie began taking pictures of herself and posting them on social media to show that she’d been mysteriously gaining weight.

The teenager, who drank alcohol and went to the gym during her pregnancy, started experiencing ‘an incredible amount of pain’ and was rushed to the hospital by her mum.

The doctor scanned her bladder to check for an infection but actually found a heartbeat.

She had no morning sickness or a visible bump but was just four hours away from having a baby.

Connie admitted that she didn’t even feel Seth moving around in the final stages of the pregnancy.

Connie said: ‘I was shocked and thought I was maybe in the very early stages. But the doctor found I was in full labour.’
