They’re certainly decorative, and some might say dazzling. But we’re not talking about the twinkling lights and tinsel on display at this time of year.
Instead it’s the A-listers who’ve transformed themselves into walking ornaments, from the hypnotising red sequins on supermodel Naomi Campbell’s gown to the tinsel gold tunic worn by actress Cate Blanchett.
Top designers including Gucci and Temperley are leading the way with the new Christmas tree look – a style that helpfully ensures that dresses light up in the glare of the photographers’ flash bulbs. High street stores are heaving with glitter, too, and in every colour of the rainbow as partygoers ditch the little black dress for some seasonal sparkle.
But is this spate of sequins a Christmas cracker – or a total turkey?
