Jerome Boateng was unavailable for Bayern Munich in their Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid – but that did not stop him giving grief to the referee.
Boateng suffered a hamstring strain in Bayern’s 2-1 first leg defeat in Munich, so had to sit out the match on Tuesday evening.
He was watching on TV when Bayern were denied a penalty just before half-time, despite a cross clearly hitting Real left back Marcelo’s arm.

Turkish official Cuneyt Cakir waved away claims, which could have seen Bayern level up the tie 3-3 on aggregate – and equal Real’s two away goals – had the [enalty been given and scored.
Boateng joined in the Bayern fans’ online displeasure, tweeting a screen grab from the TV coverage and circling the ball striking Marcelo’s arm.
The German international tweeted: ‘No penalty?!? Come on…’, with an angry emoji to round off his anger.

Although Boateng was sure, Steven Gerrard, serving as a TV pundit for BT Sport, was less certain.
When asked by host Gary Lineker if it should have been a spot-kick, Gerrard would only go as far to say it ‘possibly’ should have been given.
Real and Bayern were playing for the right to face Liverpool or Roma in the Champions League final later this month in Kiev.
