BBC broadcaster Isa Guha has revealed she fell down a hole in the commentary box during England’s Test clash with Sri Lanka. 

The 39-year-old was part of the broadcaster’s coverage on day two of the second Test on Friday, a game which England dominated with Gus Atkinson hitting his maiden century . 

However, the former bowler took to social media to reveal that she had suffered a misfortune during the game. 

Guha posted a photo of the commentary which showed a section of it being taped off and captioned it: ‘Extreme measures after I fell down the hole yesterday,’ with a laughing emoji. 

Responding to the photo, one follower said: ‘It’s good they’ve added an extra cover and taken out the slip. Think I’m just making a silly point now!

Another wrote: ‘I’m glad you put an explanation on there. I was thinking this was some kind of disciplinary process being demonstrated.’

A third wrote: ‘Isa I hope your alright and no injuries. Take care’. 

In 2002, Guha became the first ever woman of Indian heritage to represent England in any sport, doing so at the age of just 17. 

She retired from international cricket in 2012 but contnued to play for Berkshire until two years later when she called time on her career. 

The 39-year-old  has had a stints with ITV and Sky Sports as a presenter and commentator, and is now a regular part of BBC’s cricket coverage. 

In 2023 she joined their presenting team for coverage of the Wimbledon Championships.
