Beachgoers are forced to flee from the water after a great white shark is spotted stalking surfers just metres from shore

Swimmers were forced to flee from the water after a great white shark was seen circling just metres from shore.

Three beaches in Shoalhaven on the NSW South Coast were evacuated within moments of each other on Sunday.

Haunting photos show two unsuspecting surfers paddling just feet away from the 2.5 metre shark.

The sighting, at Berrara Beach just before 1pm on Sunday, led to swimmers making a run for it out of the water.

Just moments before, a three-metre shark was spotted at nearby Bhewerre.

Another 2.5-metre great white was then seen lurking in waters at Cudmirrah.

The sightings come a month after a two-metre great white shark was seen lurking beneath surfers at Bondi Beach. 

In October a baby great white shark measuring 1.6 metres was spotted nearby the the shore of Manly Point on Sydney’s northern beaches. 

More than 80 sharks were spotted at beaches in the Shoalhaven during last year’s Christmas break.
