Beau Ryan slams the Socceroos’ ‘arrogant’ World Cup rivals, mocking the Danes and the French

Former NRL star Beau Ryan has slammed Australia’s World Cup group stage rivals, saying he would love to see them knocked out first.

A merciless Ryan unleashed on the ‘arrogant’ Danish and French teams in a scathing radio segment on Friday morning.

The sports broadcaster labelled the Socceroos’ opposition as disrespectful, and said they had paid the price for treating Australia as minnows in their first two games.

‘The goalkeeper for Denmark … he looks like a member of the Backstreet Boys … he was mouthing off, he was carrying on like a peanut,’ Ryan said on Sports Radio.

Ryan then pointed out Schmeichel could not stop Mile Jedinak from scoring, and turned his attention to Les Bleus while putting on a French accent.

‘Because we’re a minnow they try to stand over us, France tried to do it, ‘We don’t know anyone’s names, oui oui’ – you know our names, we nearly beat you’ he said.

Ryan said he hated the way the Socceroos have been treated at the World Cup so far, and is hoping for some sporting karma in coming weeks.

‘They disrespect us, I would love more than anything for us to beat Peru and then see France and Denmark knocked out. Denmark, France au revoir.’

France has already made it through to the next stage of the tournament in Russia, and Peru has been eliminated.

Denmark is on four points to Australia’s one, but if the Socceroos can beat Peru and France defeats the Danes the two teams will end up tied.

If goal difference and disciplinary records are not enough to separate the teams, lots will be drawn to determine who makes it to the last 16.

Australia lost its first game 1-0 to France – the world’s most expensive team – before drawing with heavy favourites Denmark on Thursday.
