Beauty and the Geek star Mike Gambaro beats $1100 traffic fine: ‘I fought the law and I won’

Beauty and the Geek star Mike Gambaro has escaped having to pay a whopping $1,161 traffic fine. 

The 22-year-old reality star copped the penalty after road cameras allegedly filmed him driving with a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt.

The Queenslander disputed the decision and the fine was waived ahead of a scheduled court appearance to decide the matter.

‘I fought the law and I won,’ he told A Current Affair on Thursday. 

Gambaro was issued the fine, which included four demerit points, after picking up a ‘mystery woman’ for a date night at the movies in Brisbane.

According to the traffic report, the woman was not wearing her seatbelt correctly – a claim that both she and Gambaro disputed. 

‘I think from now on after this I’m going to make sure that girls meet me at the cinema rather than me picking them up,’ he told the Channel Nine programme. 

‘I can’t trust anyone sitting in my passenger seat anymore.’

In an earlier interview with ACA, Gambaro explained  the woman’s long hair had covered the seat belt.

The woman had also filmed herself inside Gambaro’s car that night and he said it showed she was wearing the seat belt. 

The dispute dragged on for six months before he was informed by letter that the fine had been waived.

‘It was stressful, it was way too stressful but I’m so happy that it’s been let go,’ he said. 

‘Obviously, someone in the court process has now looked at that and gone ”we can’t fight this”.’

Gambaro became a fan favourite after appearing on Beauty and the Geek in 2022.
